Mr. Aloha, let me once again correct something you said:

If the other guys hurt, DELL *WILL* eventually hurt. A computer is a computer and if the price is right they will buy from Compaq, IBM, HWP, etc.. that's how you UNSTUFF a channel etc..

You are incorrect on a number of points. When a channel is filled with unsold merchandise the manufacturer has two problems. Problem number one is that the inventory comes back to him, and problem number two is that the unsold inventory is technologically obsolete. So if you think that a 200MHz MMX machine is the same as a 400 MHz Pentium II, good luck! In other words, these machines aren't competitive with Dell's machines. So what did Compaq do? They lowered prices and they offered a free 14" monitor that nobody wanted. But they also said that inventory problems would persist through June.

You are engaging in the most egregious case of wishful thinking I've seen yet. We know how CPQ, HWP and IBM did this quarter. We know what problems they had. We also know what Dell did this quarter -- the same one in which CPQ, HWP and IBM were struggling. There were no problems, so you are trying to invent them.

TTFN,
CTC
