You are forgetting that India is a secular state and there cannot be any division based on religion, unlike what Pakistan may want. Pakistan can kick out other religious groups, but India treats all religions equally under constitution and in practice.

A lack of rationality on the part of Pakistan will unnecessarily lead to armed conflict. Since Rajiv's days India has been waiting for an occasion to get back the Pak-Occupied Kashmir. Kashmiri Mushlims were not militants and lived well with the Pandits. It is Pakistan who is training militants in a guerilla war-fare with sophisticated arms to get Kashmir. Pakistani generals are committed to take revenge for their defeat in Bangladesh. India did not want East Pakistan. East Pakistanis were mistreated by the West and so they wanted to be liberated. Pakistan is having a delusion that the case of Kashmir is similar. It is not. Nehru would not even discuss the issue of Kashmir because there is no question that the state is an integral part of India.

Pakistan is actively pursuing to keep the Hindu-Muslim division within India. This is very unfortunate and it must stop. India will now on be pro-active towards Pakistan's terrorism in Indian soil as per Advani.
