AT&T telephony trials underway AT&T (T) announced market trial of its new Internet telephony phone-to-phone interstate calling service are underway in Atlanta, Boston and San Francisco. AT&T's Connect 'N Save Service carries phone-to-phone calls over AT&T's Internet Protocol backbone network. Customers pay 8.5 cents per minute for all calls from Atlanta to locations within the United States. No computer equipment is needed to use the service. Callers dial a local access number and, after a prompt, enter an authorization code. They then dial the number.
