Very sobering article on NOVL in Barrons. Q: Do you see any hope for Novell?
A: The problem is the perception they're no longer doing anything interesting
They might still end up with the file-and-print server business. Microsoft will
take the applications server business, and most of the Internet server business.
The thing that hurst Novell, and which made Novell such a great stockk, and
which continues to make Cisco Systems such a great stock, is that they
had proprietary systems, marketed and believed by the buying public as
open. So they licked in all the customers. Unfortunately for Novell,
the world seems to have standardized on IP as a networking protocol, rather than
Netware. Novell has to confront that. It's amazing they forced Robert Frankenberg
out as CEO . It wasn't his fault. Somethimes the hand you get stinks. DEC has the
same problem, a victim of its own sucess, so good at one thing and
then eclipsed by a paradigm shift.

I think i am going to sell my Novell and my Micron and buy AOL.
