I have no wish to swim with sharks, Alex!!! My mermaid fins might get all bunged up. Come to think of it, could a shark have its way with a sweet mermaid? How do mermaids procreate, anyway? Their knees are certainly not easily parted.

I don't really think any country's founders would seriously write into the constitution a clause paving the way for unsupervised civilians, heavily armed, marching about trying to overthrow the government if they were in a bad mood or something. That is the situation we have now, and it is not funny. But there is no evidence this was the intent.

Police associations favor gun control to some degree because of self-interest, I am sure. I mean, who really wants to give his life for his community? But I strongly believe it is also because they see first-hand the damage that guns do to crime victims. In fact, I bet almost everyone would be in favor of gun control if they saw society up close and personal like the police do.
