Au contrare, I believe that this boy should be made an example and an exception to the law should be provided. Exceptions to rules are made in many other situations, no big deal in my mind. Certainly this young fellow is not worthy of continued existence within a civilized society. In my mind there are limits of tolerance. Oregon is kind of a weird state. Its got a lot of the kind of people who might see the sensibleness of my opinion and do what ought to be done with regards to that unfit child.

The sheer availability of guns hasn't changed in my 50 years. 22 caliber rifles have been the weapon of choice among boys for years and years. But in my day they were used for shooting tin cans, old bottles, and an occasional squirrel or two.

In Oregon, this was not an issue of temper. This was cold-blooded premeditated deviant behavior. Definitely not prompted by the mere presence of guns. The boy is bent and does not deserve to live further.

Your final point and my point are similar except in target. I see the "entertainment" industry as culpable for their ever present brainwashing from Wiley Coyote to Exterminator and beyond. You see one of the tenets of the Bill of Rights as a problem.

Which is easier to attack and correct? Which will result in a more pervasive impact on society. If guns are outlawed, who will have access to guns ?
