That sounds reasonable. Now another question or two:

Why do you suppose Intel (who supplies CPUs for over 80% of the
PCs in the world) decided to quit competing with PTEC's BIOS
development program and decided to outsource it all to PTEC
for their motherboards? Was it because they were getting
poor margins on motherboards and outsourcing helped increase
margins or because PTEC did a better job?

Also, does anyone know if Compaq and IBM develop their own
desktop BIOS? If so, how can they do a better job than Phoenix
and Intel working together? I believe Phoenix has over 350
engineers working only on BIOS and BIOS related products, and
Compaq's chief technology officer recently praised Phoenix for
their great worldwide service organization. With these things
working in their favor, you'd think Compaq and IBM would follow
in the footsteps of Intel and outsource their BIOS to Phoenix.
Any opinions on this?
