Right now I can send 250mb files (that's the largest for me yet) or more through ICQ. I can not see AOL allowing that. Also, AOL has to figure out a way of making ICQ work with AOL. One of my relatives has AOL and has tried to use it and can not. I hope Catalyst allows any size file transfer. I can't see AOL being dumb enough to downgrade ICQ's service. Obviously this would annoy members. Several of my ICQ correspondents use AOL as their ISP and have no problem at all, so perhaps your relative doesn't know how to make it work properly. As for competition, in addition to MSFT, and Yahoo, there are also Netscape and Infoseek. All of these are free. According to Bill, the NSCP product is extremely good. There's also something called "People Link"; don't know if that's free or not. The point is: these are all established services, and all (except for People Link, as far as I know) have major financial backing. CSHK's a Johnny-come-lately, and is not exactly rolling in dough. And as someone--I think CatLady--said last night, who's gonna deal in upgrades to these programs, and in customer support?
