The Sea King of Calicut and 'da Gama'.

Worswick:

Here is a little tidbit on the subject.

At that point, Vasco da Gama had only to make contact with the territory and its king, to negotiate a commercial agreement with him and to establish a Portuguese trading post, if possible, in order to initiate trading in spices.

Funny that is what they all said !

The fleet was also to be there to meet people of the Christian faith who, it was believed, resided in those latitudes.

Hummmm....Yeah sure, excuses,excuses...Well we know better now don't we??? Oh the piety of this people, brings tears to my eyes [NOT]!So close to god & deception, yet so far away from the truth, amazing.
