Randy, what I was trying to say is that there is a necessary use of prophylactic antibiotics only in patients who have been determined to have heart valve damage as the result of fen-phen usage. Certainly, everyone in this category has been advised to see a doctor and have diagnostic testing. So while dentists would be prudent to use antibiotics in treating patients who need immediate dental care and have not been tested, this should not be long term, and all patients on fen-phen need to determine whether their heart valves were damaged.

In fact, I believe the warnings to users in the original press releases reiterated both the need for diagnostic testing, and the necessity of antibiotics for EMERGENCY dental treatment prior to being tested.
