Andy, last night I set up a group in Quotes Plus of all of the securities in Value Line's Expanded List which were rated 1 or 2 for timeliness. Then I ran qp-modified version of Richard's BBB scan on the ~160 securities, as translated by Derek, but using a $50 max price. I expected that since these were already pre-selected for timeliness by VL, a large percentage would get through the net. Not so, only 8 securities got through!! Clearly VL's criteia for timeliness are not nearly as short as Richard's BBB, which looks at what the price is doing NOW. The securities which fell out of the scan were: CHK CLDR ESV HERB MDCO RWIN TREE TUBO. All have qrs well above 80, and most seem to have already popped. For those who did not copy Derek's adaptation, here it is again (modified slightly):
AllGroup input="ValuX.lst" Close(0) > Min(-1,-5,cl) *1.05 // todays close at least %5 higher than lowest close in last 5 days Close(0) <= 50 // price <= $50 Close(0) > Max(-1,-260,cl) *0.85 //today's close no lower than 85% of 52 wk high Vol(0) >= AvgVol(0,-65) // todays vol >= 3mo moving avg of vol AvgVol(0,-130)>=300 // avg daily vol last 6mo >=30,000 Vol(0) >=300 // todays vol>=30,000 output="ValuXB.lst"
