Doug, I wonder if many of the VL list are currently trading over $50 (your cut off in scan). Perhaps it would be interesting to run your list against a simpler MA crossover scan? You could play with periods, but simple scan would be:

// Find stocks where 50day ma has today crossed higher than 200day ma

AllGroup

MovAvg(0,50,cl) > Movavg( 0,200,cl)

MovAvg(-1,51,cl) < Movavg( -1,201,cl)

MovAvg( 0,50,cl) > MovAvg(-10,50,cl) // 150 day ma is moving up

Close(0)>=5 // At least a 5 dollar stock

AvgVol(0,-29)>=250 // At least 25,000 shares average volume

.................................................

I expect picking would also be small number, but this 50/200 day crossover seems to be a fairly standard watch among institutional investor types. Since Value Line stocks are also those most followed by institutions, one might be interested in following these MA CO.

Incidentally, this 50/200 scan is one of ten I run every night on the entire QP database.
