Ok, here's the deal with Viagra.

All physicians KNOW that both Viagra and nitrates act on the same cyclic AMP and thus their effects are similar - HA being the primary one do to sudden changes in blood pressure - and they should never being given together.

Viagra is a funny drug. It was made to be abused. It causes erections and women (about 1/3 to 1/2 of whom can't have an orgasm) are having success with it too. Like all drugs that deal with something pleasurable, no many how many warnings are given, the population is going to do something stupid and off-label with it. Some physicians with no ethics will play along. And there will be borrowing of the drug and distribution beyond the intended patient.

If you think it is bad now, just wait til the shorter-acting form becomes available. At least now people may pause because they don't want to wait an hour.

That said, the FDA should've known this. PFE should've known this. Doctors should've known this. And they did. Too bad, those six deaths, but I seriously wonder how preventable they were.

Will the misguided media and political pressure twist this all up and cause PFE to suffer? Who knows, but I bet not. The drug is too important, and it affects everyone from members of the Senate to disabled vets. Not a few people are seriously discovering life again. Just try to take that away.

PFE is the premier drug stock for good reason. The valuation is another matter, and no matter how much I admire PFE, I won't buy the stock now. I sure hope that investors blow this all out of proportion and kill it though so I can buy it in the future.
