The somewhat bigger threat is that perhaps no Chinese launches of US satellites will be allowed. However, B.Schwartz said they don't have current planes for many. (Seems others would be hurt worse.)

This is of course idiotic. The notion that confirming to the Chinese that they need to improve their wire soldering techniques affects the balance of nuclear terror is, I think, a bit of a stretch.

Note that the WSJ's editorial was, I thought, rather strongly backpedelling on the issue of how significant the "technology transfer" some extremist beauracrat in the DoJ complained about, will turn out to be. They can smell some significant embarrassment if they don't start de-emphasizing that side of the story fast.

And of course Maurice is right. The Chinese are gonna be able to figure out how to do anything with their rockets they want to pay for. A lot of brains over there to pick amongst for your elite national security programs. Far better for us to make them think they can live very well with us, while their inevitable eclipsing of the decadent West (their view) moves forward apace, peacefully, and commercially.

Without of course our retiring those nifty underseas nuclear islands we have roaming around, for insurance.
