Starpoint Goldfields advises that further exploration is in progress on its gold and diamond properties in the Democratic Republic of Congo as recommended in consulting geologist Gordon Richards, P.Eng. report of April 17, 1998.ÿ This report contained the results of the exploration program in March on the Ngayu West Concession.ÿ The current program involves extensive sampling and mapping geology on a grid along identified targets on the Ngayu-West Concession.ÿ Samples of a fixed volume will be collected at each site for panning, weighing and recording gold in the field.ÿÿ Samples will also be assayed in South Africa.ÿ
As the potential for a large tonnage lower grade open pitable gold reserve may be possible, several targets will be investigated for an early startup.ÿ Robert Fouty, of Earthwork Methodology, a specialist with over 50 years' experience in engineering design and construction management in mine site development, is a member of the current geological team.ÿ Mr. Fouty will spend approximately three weeks traveling to several sites on Starpoint's property to assess all aspects of earthwork and advise the Company on mine site feasibility.ÿ
Based on the encouraging assay results received in March,ÿ increased exploration will continue on the Mambati target gold quartz vein system in an effort to determine the lode gold resource.
The Company's consultants have accessed more recent work performed on its properties by France's leading specialist in the surface and subsurface geosciences, the BRGM Group. Preliminary review indicates that their work on the properties is extensive and may include geochem, geological mapping, airphoto and satellite imagery, pit/trench/drill logs and assays.ÿ The consultants have advised that the BRGM files also contain significant diamond exploration data.ÿ Starpoint will proceed with this information based on advice from its consultants.
