RDB: IMO money managers often rely on someone else's homework rather than doing their own. Skimming through analyst reports and possibly briefly talking assisting a presentation by the company. There are some who do work hard at getting down to the reality of things but this takes time and if you have a portfolio with 100+ names on it plus all the other one you follow you pretty much end up managing things "Cramer" style.
