More info on the .18 front:

AltiVec technology was launched at a Networld+Interop press
briefing. At the briefing two Motorola engineers mentioned that the
first AltiVec chip would be pin-compatible with the current G3
chips, and that chip size, power consumption and price would be
identical to, or better than, the G3 due to the use of the copper HiP
5.0 process, which uses 0.18 micron lines. The PowerPC G4 with
AltiVec will probably start shipping at 400 MHz according to
sources.
