Brian,

Three or four years ago I got in AMD in a big way--short of mortgaging my house or pawning my engagement ring. I bought the stock after Lehman Brother's Michael Gumport ungraded the stock to a strong buy. At the time, I was convinced of the driving forces behind this rec., as well as the competitive "window" that existed in the microprocessor sector. That was the pre-Pentium era. To make a long story short, I quickly doubled my $$$ and got out in 3 months. Shortly after exit, at the height of AMD stock price, scores of major brokerage firms came out with BUY recs, but the stock languished ever since with perhaps a few wiggles here and there..... Advanced Micro probably WAS a reasonable trading stock a couple of weeks ago, but now, with the cat out of the bag and price alreayd inflated, I suspect it would quickly meet its fate after some kind of a blow-out (if we havn't had one already).

Your argument re. the manusfacturing advantage of K6 is hardly convincing to me as this chip is still in the sampling stage. We don't know much about its volume production, do we?
