Just an observation-

I see much more negative sentiment and hype on this thread then in the general media regarding the recent developments.

Even Health Secretary D. Schalayla was not critical of Pfizer at all. She simply emphasized the need this places for individuals using Viagra (and other meds) to read the warning labels and cautionary statements. I heard some short statements in headlines that got attention without explanation, but did not hear any out right negative stories. All linked the 'possibility' of a tie in to Viagra use with the KNOWN cautionary about Nitrates. And all mention the six deaths are of over one million men who have taken Viagra.

I do not intend to insult any on this board, as many are very well versed with this and additional information. I am aware of market sentiment, momentum, perception, etc.

The underlying fundamentals on Viagra have not altered. Had Pfizer been ignorant of this synergistic reaction or tried to cover it up, forget it. They were not and have not.

I noticed about 15 yrs. back when a report came out stating that more then 1/3 of all hospital fatalities were related to iatrogenic causes, there was very little coverage and very little follow-up to this story. Iatrogenic cause means as a result of care administered to assist or cure- some other disease, pathology or illness manifests as a result of the intervention process. i.e. you are treated surgically for osteoarthritis with a total knee replacement and develop a severe stap. infection that becomes chronic and life threatening. I have a patient like this right now.

They do not stop performing total knee replacements. Often they do not sue the hospital or physician. It's still an evolving science of medicine and even when doing the best we know how, according to standards, life happens.

I believe with medications, if less then 10-20% of the potential population of patients who could benefit from it have complications or side effects it is considered a successful medication. I believe in most stories I heard today, mentioned several times was the fact that most men are fine with little or no side effects AND the few they listed were not even the vision, but only mild gasto and headache.

Yes, there will be coverage, and I told you so doom sayers, but remember the reason this medication sky rocketed to the headlines in the first place- impotency. And yes, I am sure cardiac patients with Nitro or other vasodilators in their medicine cabinets may consider MUSE or other alternative, but the majority of others? I don't think so, OR WHY WOULD VIAGRA BE SO POPULAR IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Is it great news? No.

Is it great market timing? No.

Is it bad news? No. It is an iteration of the facts, as they have already existed.

Even this is a market event and barring any unforeseen wrinkles will fade from the headlines.

Read labels.
Follow directions.
Consult your physician.
Use when needed, as directed.
It is and remains, regardless of 'slang' terminology, a medication, and this denotes certain responsibilities for use to both physician and recipient.

Are cars potentially dangerous?
Airplanes?
Are meat eaters at risk of disease, vegetarians of deficiency disorders?
Do unregulated over the counter herbs kill people everyday-YES.
How many of you this weekend will eat grilled hamburgers with potentially carcinogous denatured proteins?

Living is hazardous to ones health and no one I have yet met, face to face anyway, gets out of life alive.

Relax and live longer.

Just think of the power each of us has to remember the facts and refuse to be a part of 'the media hype'.
