Snug string.

If a string were tied snugly (but not stretched) around a sphere the size of the sun and then the string was untied and retied so that there would be one inch of slack in the string, how far could the string be lifted at one point from the surface of the sphere?
a) Enough to slide a piece of paper between the string and the sphere.
b) Enough to roll a marble under the string.
c) Enough to roll a basketball under the string.

(Most people do not get the correct answer for this one.)
