Initially cost reduction will be a function of increasing volumes - spread overhead over many more units = cost per unit drops. As Maurice said, with time & competition CDMA handsets will be vastly improved in weight, battery power, features, cost, etc. I am not going to worry about this. I'm more interested in rollouts, wins in other countries, upcoming autions, and wireless local loop.

By the way, the recent agreement concerning Globalstar and China was very significant for CDMA - gives Globalstar a leg up on Iridium & Oddessy there. Also, it is being trialed in several regions and I agree with Maurice, koreans & others will have a shot if QCOM doesn't.

I didn't realize it but a recent article on LEOs mentioned that Oddessy is a CDMA system. Did you guys know this?
