I am not sure I understand you point. The need for DF144 is very apparent.

DF144 has a high blend rate and the higher the octane blend rate the more bang for the buck because its cheaper to produce the final product. Add in the environmentally friendly aspect and you get DF144. Then you also have to factor in aviation and racing fuels not to mention MTBE will be a thing of the past soon enough. So the high octane rating is a plus and has nothing to do with the final product as far as how it will affect engines. No one will be burning straight DF144.
