IBM's Thinkpad uses Mpeg-1 DVD? I think they mean software....................................

techweb.com

The ThinkPad 770E I tested came with an optional Toshiba 2X DVD-ROM drive (when used as a CD-ROM drive, it's rated 16X). Use the drive to load conventional apps or to watch entertainment titles by connecting the ThinkPad 770E to a television or monitor. The ThinkPad 770E delivers great audio and DVD video, although I have to admit the idea of watching entertainment titles on a notebook computer seems slightly strange. My one complaint about IBM's approach to DVD on this platform is its use of MPEG I instead of hardware-based MPEG II.
