As far as why the dividends goes, here's my theory. Payback. Payback to Ga Bard for bringing attention to MIDL. Talk to Fisher about Ga Bard's role... Anyway, I think it's just that it's just such a stupidly obvious win win win win win win win win that they're just deliriously generous. I'm sure they'd never say that, but developing a loyal long base on a BB stock is an achievement in itself and benefits the company in innumerable ways.
