Herbvic, One might think that Apple would have gotten color earlier? That was a mission critical lack as the industry went to color separations etc. Even though you could work in blakc and white for each color and that is what the old dedicated graphics workers did and then run a proof or ? the lack of color and the small size was an impediment. These errors were made at the crucial times when IBM and the clones had color and the consumers bought color bigtime and Apple's decline started. Many businesses stayed mono, white/gree/yellow for far longer as commonw word processing did not need color then or now.
Apple had a "not invented here" philosophy that made it hard to run with other's ideas that were public domain, so user feedback was not heeded. Lately they have become more user friendly, sadly all they can do now is match the others as they have had good consumer feedback for years(bad stuff did not sell, and the small cloner went bust) and so the evolutionary parallel in a capitalist market forced the Wintels into a gruelling evolutionary war amongst themselves. There was little against Apple, they just ran their own race on the course charted by the public. Even Mighty IBM was humbled by the microchannel debacle when they failed to steer the market their way.
The day after it was announced I knew it would fail, IBM could have saved billions just by asking me(you too?) It was a colossal blunder, and had IBM been smaller they would have been finished, however they had mainframes, minis and service etc to keep them alive.
Apple did not make such a big blunder, instead they made many small ones, that, coupled with lack of sensitivity to consumer feedback, collectively caused Apple to slowly slide from #1 to #n.
One hopes they will be able to stay even.
Ther bloodbath in WIntels has reached a frenzy. There are a dozen sales by manufacturers around Toronto and 2 bankruptcy auctions next week.
Look for bankruptcies in your town soon.

Lately a number of surplus "auction" sites have appeared on the web. Egghead software has one. In every case the items they sold were above wholesale and I suspect they are not true auctions, but just sales schemes. SInce I know the real cost of many items in IBM clones it is easy to see this. Large cities will have wholesalers where you can beat Egghead easily, however small town USA will find them useful as many small towns in the center of the USA lack good sources for cheap parts to make systems from.

ILI, Internet Liquidators(they have a thread) is doomed to die with their ridiculous prices. They are like the shopping channel on TV where you can buy Taiwan junk jewels for 5 times their value. Thereare others.
