Taurus, Ever wonder where the term gold bug has it's origin? Jim Blanchard's latest edition of "The Gold Newsletter" has some thoughts. West African bankers/goldsmiths used counterweights made out of brass in the shape of bugs to weigh out gold nuggets in the 1700's. In the 19th century supporters of William McKinley (an advocate of the gold standard) wore tiny brass gold colored bugs to show their loyalty.

The next time one of these pinhead journalists refers to us as a gold bug at least we will know it's history. I doubt that they do.

Terry,
