John, You Got Me On That One... But, Let's Back Up A Moment...

XCIT is planning an SPO to support its recent $70
million upfront payment to NSCP.

SEEK's SPO was a raging success. It was the thing
that got the story out about SEEK being the undervalued
search engine. The buzz was built by ML and, I gather
others. And the SPO was, IMHO, the pursuit of public
relations by other means. It was SEEK's chance to
completely re-introduce itself to communities that
had forgotten about it or had discounted it long ago.
Though I hated the announcement of their SPO, as it
was twined with the announcement of their earnings,
I have been thankful for the reality of the SPO ever
since.

Now, as to the SEEK site upgrade. That happened
last October or November... again, somebody needs to
fire up my synapses. Maybe, one more is still in the
offing... Lord knows, I'd be for it. I DO know that
SEEK will be completely revamping its Personal Finance
section and will offer message boards, etc. But, the
timeframe on that isn't clear to me. And I haven't
gotten any more clarification from the source, i.e.,
Steve Kirsch. This Personal Finance revamping is
important for obvious reasons... think of the shear
number of hits that Yahoo! message boards get on any
given day. And Mr. Kirsch told me in his all-lower-case-
letters-I'm-busy-and-in-a-hurry-sort-of-way that the
final product will be "better than Yahoo!" We will
see.

Best Regards,

c m
