I'm not a lawyer, but I've never heard of anyone not allowed a defense..I think that's a basic constitutional right, isn't it? Even Richard Nixon was allowed an attorney, even though Hillary Rodham argued in a legal brief (she was a lawyer working on the impeachment panel) that Nixon should be denied legal counsel.....oops sorry to get political.
