Wow, that was a mouthful my friend. I hardly agree with your limits. Religion vs science it is. <<Do you believe that creationism is religion and not science? >> If the universe was created, then creationism is obviously science. Scientific creationism has been around for decades. It is really one of only two possibilities the other being naturalism. I believe that it is possible to discuss creation without using the Bible. I suggest a book called Defeating Darwinism by Phillip Johnson. We could teach children what we already discussed, that a force outside the known universe was the first cause. There is a lot of scientific evidence for creation. The way Cosmology is studied is to pose a theory and test if reality fits it or not. The fossil record shows that life springs into existence during the Cambrian period. All types of life suddenly appear. If you look at an evolutionary model, they draw in transitional forms that are not there. If you study this you will see it is true. One note about the Oscillating Universe Theory. So far we have found only found 10% of the matter necessary to close the Universe and cause a Big Crunch. Science is searching for what they call cold dark matter but have not found it as yet. You said <<They come up with theories they can never prove (as does all science), but which fit the current data as best as they can.>> Using this criteria, the Universe is not closed, but will expand forever and eventually cool and go out. The current data of 10% is not enough so this should be our assumption. I hope I have answered the question at hand. If only Naturalism and Supernaturalism are possible, both should be examined as science. Both can be, and God can be left out. Check out Phillip Johnson he has appeared on PBS Firing Line and is a very interesting person. If we were face to face you could call me on my omissions. What have I left out and what do you think? - In his love for you - DLL
