DLL, I have no understanding of physics, and do not pretend to. I am also not very well read on creation theory. My belief system is that religion should be taught at church and at home, and science should be taught in the classroom, however. There are plenty enough fossils to support the concept of evolution, and no evidence whatsoever that two of each animal on the face of the earth could be crammed into a very small boat. I would say that many scientists believe in evolution theory but also believe there was an intelligent force--God--who got the universe started. These are not mutually exclusive theories, and many educated Christians do believe in evolution, because it simply makes more sense to most people.
Would it be impossible for you to believe in God and Jesus without believing in creation theory instead of evolution? This is something I have never understood.
You lose me totally with your statement about Darwinism and free will. The fact that animals evolve has just what to do with free will, anyway? To answer your question, though, I do believe in limited free will. I think some things are under our own personal control, or that at least if we try very hard then we can exert free will. But I also believe in chaos and random chance being a stronger force. If an asteroid hits the earth, for example, then my limited free will has been overshadowed by energy which is more dominating. But certainly, we all have the power to create our own reality to some degree if we realize that we do. |
