Lotus, Corel keep quiet
Lotus Development Corp. and Corel Corp. (COSFF) may stand to gain as much as any vendor from the outcome of the antitrust lawsuits filed against Microsoft Corp.

However, neither Lotus nor Corel had much to say publicly this week about the case or the opportunity it may give them to gain ground in the office productivity suite market with their respective SmartSuite and Corel Office packages.

.....Corel officials acknowledged that a successful suit might benefit Corel, at least in the OEM market. "Will it free up the retail market?" asked Cindy McGann, Corel corporate counsel in Ottawa. "I'm not so sure, but what's more likely is an OEM will be more willing to do deals that they might not have been open to before. That's a positive for Corel, to be able to compete at a level it cannot today."....
