Have been out of town and out of touch with my laptop since Tuesday p.m., but did listen to conference call.

In sum, think John Curtis's posts sum up situation quite well, and look for a contract sooner than the "up to several months" which LD was discussing. Henderson can produce 500 batteries/day (3k/wk), which is already > ULBI. Ireland should be initially making batteries in 3 weeks or so, and "great demand" in several months.

It seems the "goo problem" has been solved, and LD acknowledged that the current batteries being sent to > 10 OEMs are "substantially better" than the batteries which 2 OEMs had already evaluated and approved late in Q1. My guess is that the company is at least attempting to renegotiate new contracts based upon the "substantially better" batteries (which I have heard means from 30%-100% better than the ones of earlier this year)

So I agree with John C. and expect mild bias upward given a flat market - and given someone from the company once stated that in order to meet the 1999 Christmas season, the company must be in real high volume production by September, I expect a meaningful contract sooner rather than in months.
