RE: CPQ / SYQT OEM deal in the works?

Bob,

>> I herd that CPQ may have or is establishing a closer OEM relationship with SYQT. I personaly think this rummor is without foundation. Do you have any info about this that you could share. <<

I've seen those rumors over on the Yahoo SYQT thread, too. Whether it's true or not shouldn't really matter. It's a lose-lose situation for SyQuest. If they do pen an OEM deal with Compaq, they'll be selling the drives FAR below cost, further extending their losses. If they don't, they continue to lose market ground to Iomega. In either case, the speculators who bought SYQT because of the rumor (and have seen their "investment" lose 33% of it's value in short order) will dump their shares.
