Not anymore. The short positions will be closed when the courts award the verdict. In the good old days you never needed to close them out and just used the proceeds to go do other things. Guess the IRS did not like too many fat cats moving to the bermudas and living off the intrests from their ill gotten gains.

Some companies like WANG issued new shares when they came out of bankruptsey, these shares were different than the old ones so you could use the old ones as wall paper. ZE will do the same.
