John, about three years ago I was sitting in the office of the President of a California healthcare technology company, doing my stuff, when in walks the one and only Rafi Kahn. If you don't know Mr. Kahn, he's one of the best known pump and short people who ever lived. An extremely debonaire guy too. I felt like I was in the presence of a king.

Kahn's three part theory was: (1) to make the float as small as possible when trying to get a stock moving. This supports your statement of the positive aspects of a reverse split. Take away the inventory and the MMs will be less apt to disturb the trading patterns that develop. You might find Khan's other theories interesting as well. (2) when Mr. Khan got into a stock he always wanted a CEO that would do and say about anything, and (3) get a shareholder rights plan in place to ward off any potential freeloading suitors.

Of course, Mr. Khan tended to short after the stock he had supported reached a certain level, but boy what a ride.
