Lilly Defends Prozac After Oregon School
Shooting, UPI Says

Bloomberg News
May 23, 1998, 3:32 p.m. PT

Indianapolis, May 23 (Bloomberg) -- Eli Lilly & Co. said its
antidepressant Prozac hasn't been shown to cause violence after
reports that Kipland Kinkel, the teenage suspect in Thursday's
Oregon school shooting, was taking the drug, United Press
International reported. Indianapolis-based Lilly has argued
successfully in many court cases that Prozac doesn't cause
episodes of violence.
Kinkel is charged with killing his parents
and two students at Thurston High School near Eugene, Oregon, the
wire service said.

Lilly's new bone protecting drug Evista cut the risk of
breast cancer at least in half for patients in ongoing studies of
the drug, Lilly said earlier this month at a key medical meeting
for cancer researchers held in Los Angeles.
