Will not will not, will not.
Your Didache quote doesn't make clear when they considered life to begin. The early church held to the Aristotelian concept of "delayed ensoulment"---the soul didn't actually enter the body until 40-80 days after conception. Before that, Aristotle said it was a vegetable soul, the aborting of which would probably be considered murder on Feelings but here at DAR, we bite the heads off vegies as soon as look at 'em. Then Augustine REALLY went backward and said that there was no soul in an unformed body. (of course, he also said original sin is passes through sexual pleasure--did you know that? I didn't)
Another weird fact.In the 700s, the English Church had a bunch of penalties about contraception...to avoid it by using oral intercourse was punishable by 7 years to life of public penance. Abortion? 120 DAYS!!
I really don't mean to make light of the issue..merely to point out that no one belief system holds some sort of consistent moral superiority over others.
Do I think human life is sacred? I do. Absolutely. But spare me moral arrogance, please. Even the leading Church fathers got all confused dealing with it.
