Robert...I have a pent 120 and runs plenty fast for what I do...Excel and Word...some games, whateva. I won't be spending money for any hardware upgrades anytime soon. I don't care about 16 bit programs and do not have any. The next OS I would buy is Windows NT workstation. I don't need its networking capabilities but I want its stability over Windows 95. This is especially true amongst the graphics crowd...namely students at CSULB and Art Center (from my personal exp.) who can't wait to buy a pentium pro and don't want to fork out more money for a new processor which they can not take advantage of since all the Adobe stuff they buy are 32 bit and runs optimally on Windows NT. Perhaps the point I am trying to make is...people are going to be moving over to PentPro and NT if not already and not put in more money for a new processor. My colleagues and I have gotten what we wanted out of pentiums for the last two years and are going to be upgrading to Pent Pros and NT in the near future. All 32 bit is the near future...16 bit is dying if not dead already. Why invest in the past ? AMD may have a better processor (keyword is may...they are still in the sampling stage) but eventually we are all going to use NT (it will replace Win95) so those of us who have Pent will not upgrade and would just wait until Pros are cheap enough ( my local vendor sells Pent Pro 200 mhz complete system for 2200 bucks). So until AMD or Cyrix pose a real challenge to Pent Pro's...I am not even going to sweat about my large position in INTC.
