Off Topic: Troubleshooting a Mac problem and wondered if any of you had any ideas? Or possible relevant links? When the Maccer tries to change the name of a folder the cursor moves to a different folder after a few characters are typed -- it's impossible to complete the name of a folder in the Finder. This doesn't happen in other applications. I was able to type a letter in Word without a problem.

Looks like soup beat me to the answer, but a good suggestion it is (delete Finder prefs). For weird problems that happen only in one application, pref files and extension conflicts are the likely culprits. Viruses are a much less likely cause, especially on the Mac, but with the recent hoopla surrounding macro viruses and the Autostart Worm, I may have to buy some virus software myself.

With my sister's wedding less than a week away, all the relatives in town and the festivities have kept me away from SI more than usual.
