Hi, Roy: Off Topic: Turned out it was an errant Extension that belongs on another type machine. It was a very weird reaction. Yeah, I was very sure of myself in telling them that they didn't have a virus because they're so rare on the Mac, and was my face red when I found I was wrong. None of the older versions of virus checkers found this virus, either. I had to actually run the SAM application with the latest SAM Virus Definitions file installed in order to find it. So I think anyone who is having weird problems, should probably do a check like this. After I cleaned out their machines, I looked on my Macs at home and I found that one file I'd downloaded from an SI referral source some months ago, an Excel file that was related to options, had the same virus. It had not infected any other files on my machines, and was not responsible for my client's virus, but it did wake me up to be more cautious. I still don't know what that virus does exactly. I think I'll call Symantec and ask them about it tomorrow.

Speaking of scams, kindof... a man called me yesterday morning to tell me that he was in charge of AT&T Security and that my phone was turned off because I'd had several international calls made on my phone this morning. He asked me to go get my calling card and when I refused to read him the number, had me hang up to prove the phone is off, then said he'd call back shortly, (it was true I couldn't get a dial tone when I hung up but that can happen when the other party doesn't also hang up) and when I still wouldn't give him the number, said that my phone wouldn't be turned on for 48 hours. He even let me talk to his supervisor who said the same thing. Of course, I told him that he had the calling card number if he was calling because of a problem with it, and I wouldn't give him the number. They were persistent and threatening gave me a return phone number to call them, and were quite rude. He said he was taping the call at first when I remarked on his language on the tape, he said he turned it off then. I told him I hadn't turned off MY recorder and they hung up pretty fast. I don't have a recorder. Any ideas where to get one. As soon as they hung up I called the local precinct and they didn't do anything but did tell me I'd done the right thing.

Linda
