First of all,John, let me set you straight on a couple of things.I am neither an insider, nor an employee of ANZ.

I have fairly good contacts in the investment community, and as usual in that business, rumours abound. Some turn out to have some truth to them and some don't.

I don't profess to have chapter and verse knowledge of a possible transaction regarding RAPPA,as it appears you do.However,it makes sense to me that the RAPPA holding may well be on the block.ANZ management has been trying to get RAPPA folded into ANZ 100% for over a year now(publicly stated by ANZ)with no success, and since that doesn't look like it's coming off(for whatever reason)why would they want to hold 25% of a non cash-generating asset?Makes more sense to make a deal andf use the money elsewhere. No?

As to when and how they should tell the world what's going on,things can be quite complicated. It may be that whoever is involved on the buy side has a requirement of confidentality until the deal is done.Such is not uncommon in these matters.

Anyway, whatever the story is,maybe we'll find out something this week.

As a suggestion, why don't you phone Gray and ask him these questions straight out?

Ossie
