RAID, Backup, and SDRAM

If you have implemented ECC on the fly and a HD crashes you may keep trucking and at YOUR Leisure, hot swap the HD for data reconstruction and backup to new HD in the background. Note that during this time you have lost redundancy but can continue to run.

If you are only mirroring then you will have to change (SW switch) the primary drive. The specific ins and out vary slightly depending on the controller you've selected.

Little more detailed in the selection of which type RAID you select but the above is essentially the bottom line. The original RAID purpose is the R in RAID, Redundancy.

Added benefit is increased bandwidth, therefore greater effective HD throughput.

On SDRAM and a 4 DIMM slot mobo, due to the number of anomalies occurring, I would NOT recommend using the fourth DIMM slot, if you must then recommend using a mobo (like the Abit) that has the data buffer.
