A few points about MTBE...
It cost big oil billions to gear up to make it
so they won't abandon it without a fight...
if it is so hazardous..how many reports do we have
of refinery workers (where it is made and blended) and
gas station attendants (where it is dispensed)
dropping like flies from the
ill-effects of handling MTBE and breathing the fumes
over long periods of time???

Any initial move away from MBTE will be towards
additives already "approved" for the market-place
ie EBTE or "ethanol" based additives..
We know that DF-144 is ethanol based ie ethanol
is the primary constituent so we should be ok there.

As long term investors we need to educate ourselves
on the process for bringing any new "additive" to market.
Question..could TOSCO..CHEVRON..UNOCAL use and market
DF-144 for the CA market tomorrow if it were presently
available in commercial quantities or would there be a
long EPA/DOE other regulatory process to contend with????

Someone ( me??) should call Exxon Research and Development
Lab in Baton Rouge, LA and confirm/verify that "they"
made a request for a DF-144 sample..I love press releases
as much as the next guy...but I'd like to see one from
a potential customer...

We should also not forget the additive after market for
DF-144..a +3 billion market..

Just some thoughts..
