This is going to be a Hairy Week in Asia. Korea: The Hundai strike: Japan devaluation of the yen: Indonesia. Meanwhile, HOng Kong has voted in the most liberal local governemtn it has ever had in its legislature.
Between times there was a great article on the Ghandian supporters of the Mahatma's ideas (in India) by John Burns in yesterdays New York Times. It said more or less, "What right does this country have to be detonating nucler devices when women villagers in the vicinity of where the bomb was tested have to walk ten miles to get water. When... 100,000..yes, 100,000 villages in India have no electricty or running water. When 50% of India is illiterate".
It makes my blood boil when I read this. Poor India. Poor poor India. Does she deserve the middle class trash she has produced and who will now promote India as a global power? We have the feckless and inhumane, the idiotic, the absolutely foolish Indian people domiciled in the US, BJP supporters all... who refuse to look at the real problems of India. "..100,000..yes, 100,000 villages in India have no electricty or running water. When 50% of India is illiterate".
They (these BJP supporters) are like the men and women in Calcutta who step over the bodies of beggars rotting on the sidewalks. Unseeing.
Of course, we will be treated to one of them posting here ...bleat...bleat... the goat people in full rampage... "America is the homer of bggary. A place full of beggars and people who step over the rotting bodies of the poor." Yes. Buddy. But you haven't and never will walk ten miles for a pail of fresh water.
My best to you,
My best,
