Yep ... it's a pretty strange way to look at things ... I imagine the FBIers thought the same of the early profilers ... by very specific, objective observation one can obtain certain types of limited information ... from the limited objective clues, one can extrapolate a set of possible implications ... over-extrapolation is the risk ... extrapolato ad ridiculosum. The technique is "scientific" in most of the usual senses ... still crude ... early days yet. Almost everybody is wierded out by having someone dissect their unconscious ops... violates the "ultimate privacy".
