Hi Christine,

Sorry for the late reply to your post. Took the time Sat. to take a couple 7 year olds to see The Greatest Show on Earth--Barnum & Bailey Circus. Last time I was there was over l0 yrs. ago but it hasn't changed all that much. The kids enjoyed it.

Anyway, that & other duties delayed this post.

Yes, I believe both the reasons you cited re why women were denigrated & repressed for so many centuries are vallid. First, human reasoning tells us that childbirth alone would give the earliest humans(who had no biological knowledge or any other kind) a reason to worship woman in the earliest years of humankind.

Second, I agree that woman's more gentle, loving nature made it all too easy for those who wanted to dethrone her. The mission to wipe all thought of a female ever being able to lead from the human psyche was so intense that it accomplished exactly what it set out to do. In fact, to the point that now even some other women consider any female who utters anything she deems anti her religious belief a witch. Opened my eyes to the fact that unfortunately woman can sometimes be her own worst enemy. Wonder if those innocent females who were burned at the stake all those centuries were placed there more by another woman's efforts or males. Probably a mixed bag of both.

That said, just wanted to warn you that there are those in this forum who have the audacity to announce their belief in witchcraft and then turn around and denounce anyone with religious ideas other than theirs as "nutty" or "crazy." There's all kinds of convoluted thinking in this world isn't there:o)

I've noticed that you as well as Sam have encouraged people to stop being so narrow-minded. Congratulations!! There are always those incapable of opening their minds, but it's worth the effort for those who can & will.

best wishes, Ann
