Puma Technology's Intellisync for Windows CE Receives Windows Magazine's Highest Honor

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 18, 1998--Puma Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:PUMA), a leading provider of advanced synchronization solutions for a variety of handheld devices and applications in the market, has received the prestigious 1998 "Win 100" award from Windows Magazine for its popular Intellisync(R) for Windows CE synchronization software. The panel of editorial judges chose Puma's synchronization solution based on its real-world usability, overall design and engineering excellence. This award is in part due to the magazine's continued recognition of the value of Puma's Intellisync for Windows CE. The editors have included the software on the publication's monthly WinList of recommended products consecutively every month since the beginning of this year.

The "Win 100" is Windows Magazine's highest honor for PC products. According to sources at the publication, readers use the "Win 100" issue as a tool to help guide them through purchasing decisions throughout the year. The special edition announcing the 1998 award winners will be distributed on June 6. The honored recipients will be recognized at the magazine's gala "Win 100" awards ceremony in New York City, June 15.

"Puma Technology(TM) is honored to receive the "Win 100" award from this leading publication for our development of leading edge technologies, like our Intellisync for Windows CE offering," said Brad Rowe, president and CEO of Puma Technology. "This validates Puma's success in defining and delivering synchronization solutions and reaffirms our commitment to continue to offer truly innovative and full featured products to mobile professionals."

Intellisync for Windows CE enables users of Windows CE-based devices to seamlessly exchange key information between their handheld device and their PC-based personal information management (PIM) applications, saving them from the time-consuming task of manually updating each device and application.

Intellisync supports all Windows CE 1.0 and 2.0-based devices, as well as the new palm-sized PCs reaching the market. Intellisync allows users of DayTimer Organizer 2.1/98, Microsoft Outlook '97/'98 and Schedule+ 7.0/7.0a/7.5, Lotus Organizer 2.1/2.12/97/GS, GoldMine 3.2/4.0, NetManage ECCO 4.0, Starfish Sidekick 95/97/98, ACT! 3.0.7/3.0.8, Novell GroupWise 5.2 and other popular applications to automatically synchronize the data between these individual applications and their Windows CE device. Intellisync for Windows CE is available at computer retail stores nationwide, directly from Puma Technology, or from its website at www.pumatech.com for $69.95.

"Intellisync is the defacto standard for synchronization in the mobile computing marketplace," said Rowe. "Our goal is to remain committed to providing the broadest support across software applications and handheld devices to help people keep their business and personal lives organized."

Puma's Intellisync technology is uniquely designed to eliminate the challenges consumers face of synchronizing data between a broad range of disparate PC-based applications and computer platforms. At the core of all Intellisync solutions is Puma's Data Synchronization Extensions Technology (DSX Technology(TM)) technology which is protected by four United States patents and is the subject of other patents pending. DSX is responsible for the accurate synchronization of information between the PC-based application and the device.

The Intellisync family of synchronization software supports a wide variety of devices, including the 3Com PalmPilot organizer, the IBM Workpad, the Franklin REX, the AT&T PocketNet Service-based phones, the Nokia 9000 and 9000i Communicators, the family of Sharp personal organizers, the Texas Instruments Avigo and family of personal organizers, notebook computers and all Windows CE-based handheld PCs.
