Tutor was in last night with her usual list of pronunciation excercises and new vocabulary. The system I am studying, of course, is pinyin, the Romanized phonetics system developed for Westerners. The word(s) for invest is tou zi. It literally means "throw away money". The word(s) for accountant? Kugi ji. Literal translation: fast count. I am becoming more and more convinced that the ancient society of the Middle Kingdom has much to teach us. Best, Stitch
