Aurum,

If the assayer was unaware of a high concentration of Iridium was in the sample to be tested and did not compensate for it, would this prevent the gold from being assayed ? Are the chemical properties of Au and Ir similar enough in the chemistry of a FA where a high concentration of Ir would essentially use the chemicals needed for assaying the Au if it were not properly compensated for?

On my visit to the mine site I was referred to a book on FA that specifically states that Ir will interfere with fire assaying. I have ordered the book but probably will not receive it for a few weeks. I hope my questions are clear.
