don, one way to check the period when the ST indicators not working well is to see the New High/New Low ratio and also the actual numbers of New High and New Low. May be you can see the New High/New Low negate some of the ST indicators (since the New High/New Low seems to be one of the best indicator of underlying strength/weakness of the overall market ???)
